Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and what better way to show someone some love than with a delicious cup of coffee…a hug in a mug, if you will? Whether you’re treating yourself or sharing the warmth with a loved one, coffee is the perfect companion for any romantic occasion.
Whether you like it hot or cold, sweet or strong, there’s a coffee recipe out there for you. Here are a few to get you started, with variations to suit your taste…
CLASSIC BREWED COFFEE
- The foundation of many coffee drinks. Use your preferred brewing method (Cafetiere, filter etc) and your favourite Cafe Rico beans.
- Tip: For the best flavour, always use freshly ground beans and filtered water.
LATTE
- Combine a shot or two of espresso with steamed milk with a thin layer of milk foam.
- Tasty tip: Add flavoured syrups for a customised Latte for a bit of Valentines sweetness, a great start would be to try out Monin’s gift pack offering 5 delicious flavours, or for extra decadence try a little whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon or cocoa powder.
CAPPUCCINO
- Similar to a Latte with steamed milk but with a thicker layer of milk foam.
- Tasty tip: A generous dusting of cinnamon or cocoa powder will go a long way to add that extra je ne sais quoi.
MOCHA
- A chocolatey delight! Combine a shot or two of espresso, chocolate syrup, steamed milk, and whipped cream.
- Tasty tip: Try White chocolate syrup for a slightly sweeter white mocha
ICED COFFEE
- Brew your favourite coffee as usual, let it cool, then pour over ice and add milk or cream if desired.
- Tasty Tip: For a stronger flavour, use cold brew coffee…see below…
COLD BREW
- Coarsely ground coffee is steeped in cold water for 12-24 hours, resulting in a smooth and less acidic, less bitter coffee.
- Tasty Tip: Cold brew can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. It also makes a deliciously refreshing alternative on a hot summers day
